Roast
The castor seeds are roasted first. This is what gives the oil its dark colour and its scent.

Grind
Once roasted, the seeds are ground into a thick paste.

The paste is cooked in water, the oil rises to the surface, then it is filtered.

What is Maskriti?
Maskriti is Haitian black castor oil. The seeds are roasted, ground, then cooked in water, and the oil is filtered. It contains a single ingredient: castor.
It is made for dry, brittle hair, beards and dry skin.
How do I use it?
Warm a little oil between your hands, then massage it into the scalp, lengths, beard or dry areas of skin. Evening works well: the oil can stay on overnight.
For hair, a protective style (twists, braids) helps keep moisture in.
Which hair is it for?
Maskriti is made for hair that absorbs moisture very quickly without keeping it: dry, brittle, fragile. If your hair is fine, use very little and focus on the ends.
Can it be used on children?
Gently, in a very small amount, avoiding the eyes and mouth. A test on a small area is advised before the first use. If in doubt, ask your paediatrician.
How should I store it?
At room temperature, away from direct light and humidity, with the bottle tightly closed.
